The Datai has to be one of my favourite hotels in the world.  It nestles in the treetops on the beautiful island of Langkawi, Malaysia.

Luxurious it certainly is.  But it is not brash, ostentatious, glitzy  or pretentious.  

At its heart are wellness, fine dining and sustainability. 

It also has nature at its heart, and the rainforest provides a fabulous backdrop to the stunning property.  Experiencing fascinating walks in the rainforest with Head Naturalist Irshad Mobarak is a true privilege. 

Enjoying the birds, monkeys and so many other creatures is a real joy.

It is the essence of what I adore.  Excellent food, excellent service, stunning accommodation, a beautiful sandy beach, alongside the opportunity to thrive in nature and learn about the rainforest and its creatures.
